Daniel Jiménez Desmond is a conservation scientist and technician specializing in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, with particular expertise in painting materials, analytical characterization, and degradation processes. His research focuses on wall paintings, especially pigments and binders, including the evaluation of nano-silica–based binders for chromatic reintegration in lime-based systems, assessing their compatibility, durability, and reversibility. He has extensive experience applying advanced analytical techniques such as polarized light microscopy, X-ray diffraction, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, SEM-EDS, and multi-hyperspectral imaging, and has collaborated on national and international projects addressing laser–material interactions in wall paintings. His professional work includes the conservation of easel paintings, archaeological materials, historic wall paintings, and stone and brick architecture, as well as the rehabilitation of protected heritage buildings, often with responsibility for project coordination and team management.
